Round I
Quiz: Test Your Knowledge
Challenge yourself with a rigorous quiz consisting solely of multiple-choice questions and true/false statements. This round is designed to assess your understanding of essential medical topics such as human anatomy, biology, medical terminology, and health sciences. It’s a great way to demonstrate your foundational knowledge in medicine. There are no registration or participation fees for the Youth Medical Innovators Challenge.
Round II
Case Studies: Analyze and Interpret
Engage with detailed medical case studies that present real-world scenarios. You will analyze patient data, symptoms, and diagnostic information to arrive at a well-reasoned diagnosis. This round focuses on your ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complex medical situations without requiring treatment plans. There is a small entry fee for Round II to cover administrative costs.
Round III
Essay: Craft a Compelling Argument
You are required to write a well-researched and insightful essay on a medical topic of your choice, with a maximum length of 700 words. Your essay should include a presentation page on the first page with your full name, school, essay topic, and email address. The essay must be clear, well-structured, and demonstrate your ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. Conduct thorough research using credible sources, and ensure your work is original and free from AI assistance. Cite sources using MLA style, with in-text citations and a Works Cited page. Submit your essay as a single document, properly formatted with Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced, and 1-inch margins.
